What is Swiss Chard?
Swiss Chard is a leafy green vegetable that is commonly used in Italian cuisine. Chard’s flavor is similar to spinach. It is an extremely nutritious vegetable and has numerous health benefits. It positively impacts blood sugar and works as an antioxidant and supports bone health. One of the best ways to cook with it is sauteing.
How to Prepare Chard
- Wash leaves under water until free of grit. Drain and pat dry.
- Fold each leaf in half lengthwise; cut out hard vein. This basically removes the vein that runs on the back of the leaf and removes the stem.
- Stack a few trimmed leaves; roll up tightly like a cigar.
- Slice across to form the ribbons.
