Red Pears

RED PEARS

rED pEAR

RipeningRed  pears are no different from green pears.  They will ripen when held at room temperature. Depending on level of ripeness when purchased, it may take several days before they are ready to eat.  To see if they are ready to eat use the thumb test: gentle thumb pressure near the stem will yield slightly when the pear is ripe.

Storage:  Store ripened pears in the refrigerator.

IDEAS: Roast Pears whole or cut in half and sprinkle with Brie Cheese & Nuts, Roast whole pears in wine and drizzle with honey, serve cold with cheese and crackers, make a dessert such as Pear Crisp, best of all eat plain!
